Our laboratory team plays a critical role in accurate diagnosis and treatment across all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric patients.Position SummaryReedsburg Area Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform a wide range of clinical laboratory testing and specimen collection activities. This role supports physicians and care teams by ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of diagnostic testing.The MLT works in a fast-paced, patient-focused laboratory environment and is responsible for testing blood and body fluids, maintaining quality control standards, and supporting excellent patient care.Key Responsibilities• Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines, including:- Hematology and coagulation- Chemistry and special chemistry- Immunohematology (including crossmatching)- Serology and microbiology- Urinalysis and body fluid analysis• Process and prepare specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testingPerform phlebotomy procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patientsVerify patient identification and ensure proper specimen collection and labelingEvaluate test results for accuracy, critical values, and the need for repeat testingPerform quality control procedures and document corrective actions as neededConduct preventive maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentsMaintain accurate documentation and charge capture per regulatory requirementsFollow infection control, safety, and bloodborne pathogen policiesCommunicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and laboratory staffParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing educationServe as a preceptor for new employees or students as assignedPatient Populations ServedNeonatal (0-30 days)Infant (31 days-1 year)Pediatric (1-12 years)Adolescent (13-18 years)Adult (19-65 years)Geriatric (66+ years)Required QualificationsGraduate of an accredited two-year Medical Laboratory Technician program or equivalent (including military training programs)Certification as an MLT or eligibility to obtain certification through ASCP, AMT, NCA, ISCLT, AAB, or HEW certificationBLS CertificationAbility to distinguish colors (color vision required)Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsPrevious clinical laboratory experiencePhlebotomy experienceExperience working in a hospital or clinical lab settingStrong customer service and communication skillsPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsFrequent standing and walkingAbility to lift and carry up to 25 poundsFrequent use of fine motor skills and venipuncture techniquesContinuous use of laboratory instrumentation and computer systemsRegular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, sharps, chemicals, and moving equipmentWork performed primarily in an indoor, patient-care environmentWhy Join RAMC?Supportive, team-oriented laboratory environmentOpportunity to work with a diverse patient populationCommitment to service excellence and patient safetyStable healthcare organization serving the local communityProfessional development and continuing education opportunitiesEqual Opportunity EmployerReedsburg Area Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace.recblid 2n3l5roe0mlhbrc0zem9gtflj5ok3l
