This individual will be required to adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work.A Fiber Splicer will perform tasks associated with the construction/upgrade of telephone systems. A Fiber Splicer is responsible for terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing fiber optic cables within the systems networks and their related equipment resulting in maximum operating efficiency.ResponsibilitiesPerforms tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of fiber linesMaintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignmentAssemble equipment according to design specificationsInstall/repair fiber lines in trenches and/or pedestals using various hand toolsTest, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installationBasic daily maintenance of provided vehicle-check fluids, clean and organize vehiclePrepare paperwork to track daily production, and accurately record completed work on job site blueprintsQualifications / ExperienceAbility to work both individually and in a team environmentAbility to communicate professionally with co-workers, homeowners, and customersAbility to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds several times each dayAbility to endure long periods of standing, sitting, or walkingAbility to work in an outdoor environment during all times of the yearMust have a valid driver’s license (CDL Class “A” preferred)Ability to operate technical equipment, including but not limited to computer, OTDR and fusion splicing equipmentAbility to lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant and equipmentMust be available for weekend call outsAbility to travel and work outside in all types of weatherThe TIS Group and its affiliated companies are equal opportunity employers.
