Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and attentive PK-12 School Hall Monitor to help maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful school environment. The ideal candidate will supervise hallways, common areas, and entry points, ensuring students follow school expectations and transition smoothly throughout the day. This role includes addressing minor behavioral concerns, monitoring high-traffic times such as arrival, dismissal, and class changes, and reporting concerns to administration.
Strong communication skills, vigilance, and the ability to respond calmly in various situations are essential. The hall monitor plays a key role in supporting a positive school climate and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor hallways, restrooms, and common areas to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior
Supervise student transitions between classes to maintain order and minimize disruptions
Enforce school rules and expectations in a consistent and respectful manner
Address minor behavioral issues and refer more serious concerns to administration
Monitor arrival, dismissal, and other high-traffic times throughout the school day
Check hall passes and ensure students are in authorized areas during class time
Provide assistance and directions to students, staff, and visitors as needed
Observe and report safety concerns, incidents, or suspicious activity promptly
Collaborate with teachers and staff to support a positive and secure school environment
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and handle situations with professionalism and sound judgment
Attentiveness and strong observational skills
Ability to follow school policies and work collaboratively with staff
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a PK-12 school environment or student supervision role
Basic training in conflict resolution, de-escalation, or behavior management
Bilingual skills or ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
