Interventional Radiologist (Board Certified) Location:Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital, San Antonio, TX Status:Full-Time Equivalency (Contractor) Shift:Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (plus On-Call/Call-Back requirements) Position Overview The South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) is seeking Board Certified Interventional Radiology (IR) Physicians to provide high-quality, on-site clinical services to our Veteran beneficiaries. You will perform a wide range of interventional procedures in a state-of-the-art facility, adhering to the standards of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and The Joint Commission. Key Responsibilities Clinical Procedures:Perform a comprehensive range of IR services, including but not limited to: Image-guided biopsies (lung, liver, bone, soft tissue). Vascular access (tunneled CVC insertion/removal, dialysis circuit interventions). Drainage procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, abscess drainage). Complex interventions (thrombectomy, embolization, angioplasty, biliary/renal stenting). Consultation:Provide expert guidance to referring physicians on appropriate IR work-ups and treatment courses. Patient Management:Conduct pre-procedure reviews, post-procedure evaluations, and provide clear discharge instructions/education to patients. On-Call Coverage:Provide after-hours phone consultations (15-minute response time) and on-site "call-back" services for urgent clinical needs (60-minute on-site response time). Administrative & Quality:Participate in monthly Quality Assurance (PI/QA) meetings, Tumor Boards, and peer review Qualifications & Requirements Education & Certification:* Must beBoard Certifiedby the American Board of Radiology. CurrentBLSandACLScertifications are required. Licensure:Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth Experience:Proven technical proficiency in the full scope of Interventional Radiology procedures Vetting:Must be able to pass aTier 1/Low Riskbackground investigation (Personnel Vetting) and obtain a PIV security badge Health Requirements:Proof of immunity/vaccination for Influenza, MMR, Varicella, and Tdap, along with a recent negative Tuberculosis test Work Environment Facility: Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center Team: You will work alongside VA support personnel and residents in a collaborative clinical environment. Technology: Proficient use of the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for all patient documentation is mandatory.
