This position requires TS/SCI Clearance or the ability to obtain TS/SCI Clearance. The Technician must be able to work in a strong team environment and be able to act autonomously when required. The primary duty of the ESS Technician is to provide exceptional customer service and offer clear explanations and support to clients regarding actions taken to troubleshoot and resolve issues with their security systems.ResponsibilitiesProvide onsite technical support to install, configure, maintain, and operate an HPSD-12 FIPS 140-2 compliant ESSSystem programming, updating of firmware and software, troubleshooting, service, maintenance, and repair of all ESSFollow blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans; feed cables through access holes, plenum spaces, and walls to reach outlets and hardware; then position and terminate cables, wires, and strappingExamine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulationReplace electronic components and hardware (i.e., cameras, card readers, door strikes, etc.)Test backup batteries, keypad programming, and all security features to ensure proper functionalityDiagnose malfunctions, mount, and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and attach electrical and ethernet cabling to connect componentsInspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and troubleshooting proceduresTest and repair circuits and sensors and install electrical conduit or tubingDrill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors; splice electric cable; repair or replace electrical wiring, circuits, fixtures, or equipmentUnderstand and execute basic software programming and adjustments to correct system deficienciesCarry and move equipment and tools to and from vehicle, climb ladders in a safe mannerQualificationsU.S. citizenship and an active U.S. government security clearance or the ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance up to the level of Top SecretMust have a minimum of 3 full years of experience in the low voltage / CCTV / security industryHS Diploma or higher requiredExperience and CORE certifications in Lenel OnGuard and Milestone systems strongly preferredAdditional beneficial certifications: Bosch, Genetec, Honeywell, Hirsch, AMAG, CCNA Security, CCNA Routing & Switching, MCP, Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CSEIPIn-depth background in security technology and integrationExperience supporting commercial, DOD, and/or federal government IT infrastructure; IT infrastructure for Electronic Security Systems (ACS / IDS / VSS / Biometrics) is strongly preferredWork EnvironmentThis position is located onsite at customer facilities in Newport, RI; site conditions will vary.VIRSIG's "Why"At VIRSIG, we believe that service to others can change the world.
