Quantitative Natural Gas Trader – US MarketsAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly analytical and technology-driven Quantitative Natural Gas Trader to support and expand our activity across North American gas markets. This position blends quantitative research, market analysis, and algorithmic execution within a fast-moving commodities trading environment.The successful candidate will play a key role in designing systematic trading approaches, interpreting market signals, and enhancing trading performance through data-driven decision making.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and manage quantitative trading strategies focused on US natural gas marketsMonitor live algorithmic trading activity and adjust models based on evolving market behaviour and risk exposureConduct in-depth analysis of market fundamentals including supply and demand balances, storage trends, pipeline flows, weather impacts, and macroeconomic or geopolitical developmentsPartner closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and software engineers to build scalable and automated trading solutionsEvaluate trading results and identify opportunities to improve execution, forecasting accuracy, and portfolio performanceSupport the ongoing development of trading systems, analytical tools, and infrastructure enhancementsContribute new ideas and research initiatives that strengthen market positioning and trading capabilitiesTeam & EnvironmentYou will become part of a collaborative and entrepreneurial trading organization with teams operating across multiple international locations. The culture values innovation, independent thinking, and continuous improvement, while encouraging close interaction between commercial, quantitative, and technical functions.This role offers direct exposure to decision-making processes, rapid implementation cycles, and significant ownership from an early stage.Candidate ProfileMaster’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Physics, Finance, Statistics, or a related fieldMinimum of 2 years of experience within natural gas trading, energy markets, or a comparable commodities environmentStrong understanding of North American gas market structure, pricing drivers, and physical/fundamental dynamicsFamiliarity with energy trading venues and execution platforms including ICE, CME, or equivalent systemsAdvanced analytical and quantitative capabilities, particularly in statistics, econometrics, optimization, or predictive modellingProficiency in Python or another programming language commonly used for quantitative analysis and automationAbility to work from or regularly travel to Stamford, ConnecticutPreferred QualitiesExperience developing systematic or algorithmic trading modelsStrong problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisions under uncertaintyEffective communication skills and ability to collaborate across trading and technical teamsCuriosity for market behaviour and enthusiasm for leveraging technology in trading environments
