Learning and Development Coordinator

Learning and Development CoordinatorThe New York Botanical Garden is seeking an organized, dependable, and mission-driven Learning and Development Coordinator to support staff learning and professional development across the Garden. Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning Strategy and Operations, this role helps coordinate training programs, onboarding activities, workshops, learning materials, and related projects. The coordinator supports the day-to-day work that helps learning programs run smoothly, including scheduling, communications, materials preparation, tracking, documentation, and follow-up. This role is a good fit for someone with strong coordination skills, clear communication, sound judgment, and an interest in helping staff learn and grow in a mission-based organization.Specific duties and responsibilities include:Coordinating logistics for trainings, workshops, and learning programs, including scheduling, registration, room setup, technology, materials, and participant communicationSupporting onboarding and orientation activities by helping manage calendars, materials, and coordination across departmentsMaintaining project trackers, timelines, files, and shared learning resourcesAssisting with the development and editing of presentations, handouts, guides, and other training materialsTracking attendance, feedback, and follow-up items for learning programsHelping prepare surveys, interview guides, and focus group materials used to gather staff feedback and assess learning needsOrganizing notes, responses, and other information to support reporting and planningAssisting with summarizing findings and preparing slides, documents, and other materials for internal useSupporting digital learning efforts, including online resources, microlearning, and basic staff technology upskillingCommunicating professionally with staff and partners across the organizationPerforming other related duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in learning and development, education, human resources, communications, or a related field1-3 years of relevant experience in program coordination, training support, learning and development, education, HR, or a related areaStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with consistency and careAbility to work professionally with sensitive or confidential informationProficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and TeamsExperience supporting training, workshops, onboarding, or staff programs preferredExperience in a nonprofit, cultural, educational, or mission-driven organization preferredInterest in workplace learning, staff development, and digital tools preferredDriver's license preferredPhysical demands and work environment:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, and use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods. The employee may also be required to walk between locations across NYBG's campus, stand for meetings or program support, and occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 15 pounds. This role works primarily in an office, classroom, and meeting environment, with occasional work in public or event spaces across the Garden.
