Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in the clinic under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing. The LPN is expected to work well with every member of the clinical team to provide safe, high quality and efficient primary care to a patient population diverse in age, health status, and socio-economic level. This position requires strong team work and communication skills with the care team. Minimal qualifications include a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Florida license, BLS certification, computer literacy, and experience in community health preferred. Responsibilities and performance expectations include being familiar with program philosophies, goals and objectives, complying with policies and procedures, understanding exposure control plan, participating in staff outreach and off-site health care programs, reporting pertinent information, attending mandatory meetings, working cooperatively with the clinical team, maintaining a professional appearance, carrying out activities deemed appropriate, screening patients, obtaining medical history, performing accurate charting, performing waived lab analysis, administering injections, preparing and administering vaccines/medications, performing procedures, counseling patients, understanding emergency protocols, maintaining exam rooms and work areas, maintaining strict infection control, making/canceling/rescheduling appointments, understanding and assisting in the referral process, completing clinical logs, maintaining patient concerns within electronic medical records, and completing all duties appropriately for the age groups served. Physical requirements include spending 80% or more time standing/walking, independently mobile, ability to lift weight equivalents when assisting and positioning patients, repositioning equipment and lifting supplies, and ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites, and work shifts.
