Our work centers on structural analysis and design for process equipment—primarily air-cooled heat exchangers, steel stacks, and flare systems—plus proprietary software tools and field solutions for stack vibration problems.We’re a small, technically deep team. Low bureaucracy, few meetings, clear expectations. Engineers here own their work end-to-end and build direct client relationships.──────────WHY THIS ROLE EXISTSWe’re hiring to add senior capacity and reduce key-person risk as the business grows. You’ll work alongside the owner and an experienced engineer, learning Meca’s systems and standards before taking on full project ownership. The long-term expectation is that you run engineering independently—quoting, designing, and delivering with minimal oversight.──────────WHAT YOU’LL WORK ONEquipment breakdown (typical):•       Air-cooled heat exchangers (ACHEs): ~60% of workload•       Steel stacks and flares: ~25%•       Custom/specialty requests: ~15%Day-to-day responsibilities:•       Structural analysis and design reports for ACHEs, stacks, piping supports, and related components•       Quoting engineering services from client specifications and drawings•       Direct client communication—email, phone, and occasional on-site•       Code research and application across a range of standards (AISC, ASME, API, IBC, international codes)•       Coordination with Meca’s software team to resolve engineering questions──────────WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE AT 12 MONTHS•       Independently evaluating and quoting most engineering projects•       Proficient on ACHEs and standard stacks with minimal review required•       Trusted to communicate directly with clients and manage revisions•       Taking high-level tasks and owning them through delivery•       Freeing up leadership time—work moves forward without being prompted──────────REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS•       Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (ABET preferred)•       3+ years of structural engineering experience•       Strong working knowledge of steel structural design and applicable codes•       Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines•       Authorized to work in the US (no H-1B sponsorship)──────────PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•       PE License (any state)—strongly preferred•       STAAD.Pro proficiency•       PRG Paulin or similar pipe stress/nozzle software•       Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling experience•       Foundation design (ACI 318, ACI 351)•       Programming or scripting background (VBA, Python, C#) is a plus──────────WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FORThis is not a good fit if you:•       Need close supervision or structured task lists to stay productive•       Prefer handing problems up rather than researching and proposing solutions•       Are uncomfortable in a small-company environment where roles overlap•       Don’t treat deadlines as commitments•       Aren’t willing to be accountable for the quality of your own work──────────HOW WE WORK•       Independent work environment—you’ll own your projects, not just tasks•       Minimal meetings and low administrative overhead•       Trust and autonomy increase as you demonstrate judgment and follow-through•       Documentation matters—we build shared knowledge, not individual silos•       We use AI tools where they reduce repetition; comfort with emerging tools is a plus──────────BENEFITS•       Bonuses - Performance-Based•       401(k) — Pre-tax & Roth, 3% company match•       Health Insurance — Company-sponsored•       PTO — Paid time off•       Holidays — 11 company holidays•       Schedule — Mon–Thu in-office (9 hrs) + Fri remote (4 hrs)
