IT Network Development Engineer

ACCOUNTABILITIES Defines network business requirements and implements effective global network strategies Designs secure network solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources across the company Coordinates with multiple vendors/departments to procure network-related hardware, software, and services Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues Creates and shares roadmap and technical support to determine network business needs throughout the company Evaluates, tests, recommends, and implements specific network solutions Researches emerging network technologies and makes recommendations based on future business needs Schedules and coordinates installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensures compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, innovations and secure network solutions Designs and manages global network infrastructure Tests, configures, and deploys operating system/software including Service Packs, upgrades, hot fixes, etc. Integrates multiple messaging platforms with wireless technologies such as Blackberrys Analyzes and improves efficient messaging delivery strategies Supports, modifies, and updates the hardware and messaging software systems Troubleshoots and resolves customer problems using integrated data processing and communication solutions Performs research, operation studies, design reviews, and technical briefings with clients Provides advice, recommendations, and technical support to customers Prepares documentation that will assist in the maintenance of the groupware system Conducts analysis, prepares reports, and works on project implementation Defines network business requirements and implements effective global network strategies Designs secure network solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources across the company Coordinates with multiple vendors/departments to procure network-related hardware, software, and services Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues Creates and shares roadmap and technical support to determine network business needs throughout the company Researches emerging network technologies and makes recommendations based on future business needs Schedules and coordinates installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensures compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, innovations and secure network solutions RESPONSIBILITIES Provides advanced technical support within area of expertise to clients and internal personnel on complex integration issues and is often in a lead role within larger projects Responsible for establishing project plans, business cases, input to budgets, schedules and documentation of work results Establishes network priorities as they relate to achievement of short and long-term business goals and objectives; responsible for complex testing and analysis of network facilities Mentors and instructs lower level engineers on technical expertise needed in collecting and assembling data, preparing reports, monitoring progress and analyzing data Provides support in the use of protocol analyzers and network test equipment Contributes to the development of complex, innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems facing organization; technical expertise utilized in areas such as marketing, business acquisition and/or client support Provides consulting services to client and corporate technical staff for analysis and design of portions of complex integrated systems and communication solutions Works with leadership to ensure that all team members have adequate training for assignments Drives the planning, design and architecture of our complex global data network infrastructure Plans and architects Global IT Data Center infrastructure solutionsKey ResponsibilitiesCCNP LevelDesign, configure, and maintain Wireless Access Points and Wireless ControllersDesign, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Layer 2/Layer 3 switching technologiesDevelop and implement network automation solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration, and troubleshootingManage and optimize network performance, availability, and security across data center and campus environmentsAutomate routine network operations using scripting and orchestration toolsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support network integration and deployment effortsTroubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysisMaintain up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and operational proceduresParticipate in change management, incident response, and continuous improvement initiativesTechnical Background: Deep experience with software architecture, API contract design, and data schema rules.Prompt & Spec Engineering: Ability to write precise, unambiguous text instructions (PRDs) that Large Language Models (LLMs) can parse without "vibe coding".Workflow Mastery: Experience breaking down complex applications into multi-agent systems (e.g., Coordinator, Implementor, and Verifier tasks).Testing: Proficiency in automated verification criteria and mapping code back to core specs during pull requests.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of network engineering experienceStrong expertise in:Layer 2/Layer 3 switching (VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, VTP, PortChannel, and routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP)Network design and troubleshooting in enterprise environmentsHands-on experience with network automation tools, such as:Demonstrated proficiency in Python, Ansible, or similar scripting/automation frameworksREST APIs and network programmability conceptsFamiliarity with major networking platforms (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Juniper)Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security fundamentals
