About The CompanyBased in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world’s leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two primary ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top-tier AI researchers specializing in software engineering, logical reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying this expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence. Our systems are designed to perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L. Turing’s innovative approach and deep industry insights make it a leader in the AI research and deployment landscape, fostering advancements that shape the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning.About The RoleAs a Software Engineering Evaluator at Turing, you will play a pivotal role in creating and refining datasets that are essential for training, benchmarking, and advancing large language models. Your expertise will directly impact the development of cutting-edge AI systems by collaborating closely with research teams to curate high-quality code examples, provide precise solutions, and make necessary corrections. The role predominantly involves working with Python across backend services, data pipelines, and ML infrastructure, but also includes engagement with languages such as JavaScript (including ReactJS), C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go. You will evaluate AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability, ensuring that models meet industry standards and perform optimally in real-world applications. Your work will contribute to building robust AI-driven coding solutions and automated verification tools, ultimately enhancing enterprise-level AI capabilities.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess several years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of three years working in high-scale, production environments. Deep expertise in Python is essential, including familiarity with frameworks, tooling, and best practices for building scalable, production-grade software. Experience in developing full-stack applications and deploying scalable systems using modern languages and tools is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, debugging, and code quality assessment. Excellent communication skills are necessary for providing clear, structured evaluation rationales and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. A background from top computer science programs such as Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, or comparable institutions is preferred, though exceptional practical experience and skills take precedence over pedigree.ResponsibilitiesCurate high-quality code examples, solutions, and corrections across multiple programming languages including Python, JavaScript, C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go.Evaluate and refine AI-generated code to ensure it meets standards for efficiency, scalability, and reliability.Collaborate with research and engineering teams to enhance AI-driven coding solutions and benchmark performance.Develop agents and automated verification tools in Python to assess code quality and identify error patterns.Hypothesize and evaluate various stages of the software engineering cycle, including prototyping, architecture design, API development, deployment, monitoring, and operational maintenance.Design verification mechanisms that can automatically verify solutions to software engineering tasks, ensuring consistency and correctness.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and insights to refine AI models and datasets.BenefitsWhile this role is primarily a contractor position with flexible engagement options, candidates will benefit from an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI research and development. The position offers the chance to collaborate with top-tier researchers and engineers, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. Although this role does not include medical or paid leave, it provides valuable experience in a rapidly evolving field. The engagement duration is initially set for one month, with potential extensions based on performance and organizational needs. Candidates will also enjoy the flexibility of remote work, provided they are based within the United States, and the chance to contribute to impactful projects that are shaping the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning.Equal OpportunityTuring is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
