The Lab Live produces daily livestream trading shows on YouTube (youtube.com/@thelablive). Every episode goes out live, on schedule, to a returning audience. Which means the operator behind the desk is as much a part of the product as the presenters in front of it.About the RoleWe're looking for a Junior operator to support live show execution. Running vMix. Keeping the stream healthy, and helping with post-show reporting and asset creation. You will sit alongside the Production Manager and presenting team, taking cues live and making sure each broadcast starts on time, looks consistent, and ends clean.This is a hands-on role suited to someone starting out in live production who wants real-world experience operating a daily broadcast rather than one-off events. Full training on our xMix setup and show runbook is provided. We care far more about reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn than about a long CV. Over time, a strong operator here can take on lead operator duties, own their own show slot, and grow into wider production and post-production work.What You'll DoOperate vMix during live shows: scene and source switching, overlays and lower thirds, audio levels, and live stream monitoring.Run pre-show checks: input signals, audio, graphics, stream key and destination, and recording paths, so the show is ready well before the on-air time.Monitor stream health during broadcast: watch for dropped frames, bitrate drops, encoder warnings, and chat issues, and escalate per the runbook.Handle local recording and, where set up, trigger and verify the post-show upload to cloud storage.Support basic post-production tasks: logging trades, file checking, and maintaining virtual instances.Populate the show's analytics tracker: viewer counts, chat volume, and watch time after each episode.RequirementsAvailable for 20 hours per week across scheduled AM and/or PM show slots, with reliable availability at fixed, non-negotiable start times.A reliable computer, stable high-speed internet connection, and a quiet working environment suitable for live broadcast operation.Aged 18 or over.Able to work within ET/EST show hours and commit for a minimum term of discussed months.Basic understanding of live streaming concepts: RTMP, bitrate, encoders, stream destinations, and broadcast dimensions.Strong attention to detail: following presenter cues, switching scenes cleanly, and keeping spelling and punctuation correct across all on-screen messaging.
