Job Description Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Residential Construction Lead Carpenter to join our team. This role focuses on leading carpentry-related trades across residential projects, from framing to finish carpentry, siding, and deck construction. The Lead Carpenter will supervise crew members, ensure high-quality workmanship, manage materials, and coordinate with project managers to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Key Responsibilities Lead and perform framing, finish carpentry, siding installation, and deck construction on residential projects. Plan and lay out carpentry work, reading blueprints and building plans to ensure accuracy and adherence to codes and standards. Supervise, mentor, and coordinate a small crew of 1carpenter and 1 laborer; assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Ensure work meets quality standards and project specifications; inspect completed work and address deficiencies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site; enforce OSHA-compliant practices and company safety policies. Troubleshoot problems, propose design and process improvements, and provide practical solutions in a fast-paced residential setting. Maintain accurate timekeeping and progress reporting; assist with punch lists and project closeout documentation. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; continuing education or trade certifications preferred. Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a framer with proven proficiency in finish carpentry, siding installation, and deck building. Skills: Advanced carpentry skills, reading and interpreting plans/drawings, measurement accuracy, material estimation, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail. Leadership: Ability to supervise crew members, delegate tasks, provide guidance, and maintain a productive work environment. Tools & Equipment: Proficient use of standard carpentry tools; knowledge of power tools, fasteners, and materials common to residential construction. Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites; a personal vehicle is required. Truck with towing capabilities preferred for transporting equipment and materials. Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license; clean driving record required. OSHA-10 or other safety certifications are a plus. Communication: Excellent communication skills with teammates, clients, and subcontractors; strong organizational and time-management abilities. Physical: Able to lift heavy loads, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding, and work in varying weather conditions. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Pay: The target range is competitive within the market and will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Expectation is to align with the higher end of local market rates for a lead carpenter with 8+ years of framing and finish work.
