Engineering Specialist - Gear Machining Process

Position Description:This role is for gear machining launch process engineer.You will work jointly with the headquarters launch team and their suppliers to assure the incoming manufacturing line is successfully delivered for all key business metrics for long-term success of the Client.Responsibilities:Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Gear machiningDrive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivityComplete all PPAP quality launch documentationApply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and productsDevelop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize open issues and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processesLead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Powertrain guidelinesConduct job ergonomic evaluations and deliver corrective actions as requiredCreate process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processesDeliver capable processes and tools for all gear machining operationsLead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practicesEnsure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standardsSupport ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as requiredIdentify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements to achieve Rate of Climb targetsRequirements:5+ yrs of related experienceSuccessful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in Client (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skillsPreferred:Hypoid Bevel gpear process understanding (blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening, lapping)Quality Assessment tools (QDAS, Minitab)Klingelnburg P40 & Gleason Nano Gear CMMEffective oral and written communication skillsLean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skillsLean Tools 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream MappingDMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experienceFMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experienceEducation:High School Diploma / GEDPreferred: Bachelor's DegreeAdditional Information:Fully onsite.We offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, 401k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
