This position will perform activities related to bankrupt accounts including but not limited to processing new notices, discharges, Proof of Claim, Notice of Payment Change, Notice of Post-Petition Fee, Plan Review/Objection, preparing reaffirmation agreements, perform reconciliations, and case closures in a shared service environment.Essential Job Functions:Works with outside counsel to investigate and decide on appropriate courses of action, provide additional documentation, draft pencil ledgers, and approve Agreed OrdersMakes decisions on bankrupt accounts based on numerous variables including chapter, delinquency status, and debtor intent while meeting court specified deadlinesEnsures proper calculation of pre and post-petition amounts dueReview and approves required Proofs of Claims to be filed in the bankruptcy courtsReview and approves required Notices of Payment ChangeReview and approves required Plan Review/ObjectionsReview and approves required Post Petition Fee NoticesPrepares, sends, and follows up on reaffirmation agreementsReconcile pre-petition and post-petition payments and balancesPerforms periodic audits of customer charges and paymentsDaily maintenance of bankrupt loans in the servicing platform ensuring correct statusDaily maintenance in bankruptcy software (Pacer, Banko, etc) to ensure proper follow-up on case status and document filingDaily record retentionReconciles trustee checksLoads case information into the system of recordRemains current with bankruptcy laws as well as state and investor guidelines to best protect the interest of Freedom MortgageEnsures compliance with internal policies and controls, investor guidelines, and governmental regulationsWorks with outside counsel, debtors, and debtor attorneys negotiating alternative payment schedules for delinquent accounts, coordinating loss mitigation efforts, or reaffirmation agreementsCompliance with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)Work in collaboration and partnership with other team membersOther Related Duties:Performs other related duties as assigned.Position RequirementsPrevious experience with bankruptcy/insolvency legal services preferred but must have law firm or in-house loan servicing experienceDetail oriented with the ability to multi-taskMust be familiar with loan documentation and or, Bankruptcy proceedings/Mortgage Servicing proceedingsWork with a sense of urgencyMust be able to meet strict deadlines and adhere to client metricsWillingness to learn and adapt to changeEffective communication skills and the ability to work with different personalities and methods.Excel, Word and Outlook proficiencyStrong attentional to detailAppropriate time management and prioritization of work based on business needsExempt/Non-ExemptNon-ExemptFull-Time/Part-TimeFull-TimeLocation(s)Brock & Scott, PLLC - Winston-Salem, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Atlanta, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Birmingham, AL, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Brentwood, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Charleston, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Charlotte, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Cincinnati, OH, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Columbia, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Connecticut, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Fairfax, VA, Brock & Scott, PLLC - Ft.
