Permit Specialist (Pole Permitting) Job at a Glance Role: Permit Specialist Schedule: 8-hour shift (flex between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; standard 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) Work Model: 4 days onsite, Fridays remote (may transition to 5 days onsite) Contract: 7 months with the potential to extend or convert to FTE Pay: $35/hr + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match Environment: Office-based with occasional field or township visits Overview We are seeking a highly organized Permit Specialist with experience in pole permitting and municipal coordination to support infrastructure and construction projects. This role will work closely with field contractors, design teams, and project managers to ensure permits are processed efficiently and projects stay on schedule. Key Responsibilities Manage and track 100–200+ permit applications across multiple active projects Coordinate with contractors, construction teams, and design groups to facilitate permit approvals Interface with township, county, and state entities to submit, follow up, and resolve permit issues Monitor permit progress through each stage and ensure timely completion Provide status updates and reporting to Project Managers and leadership Create and maintain project schedules and tracking tools Utilize systems such as Excel, Smartsheet, and P290 for reporting and workflow management Occasionally verify field conditions (e.g., confirming pole replacements) or deliver documentation/payments in person Required Qualifications Proven experience with pole permitting and municipal permitting processes (township, county, and state) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of applications simultaneously Experience working cross-functionally with field teams and construction/design stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Ability to track detailed workflows and provide clear, consistent updates Preferred Qualifications Experience working with utilities or telecom providers such as: JCP&L, PPL, Verizon, Frontier, Met-Ed, or PECO Familiarity with GIS systems Prior experience in utility, telecom, or infrastructure projects Day-to-Day Report onsite and manage assigned permit portfolios Track progress, follow up with agencies, and ensure approvals stay on schedule Update Smartsheets/Excel trackers and communicate status to project stakeholders Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve permit issues Occasional field or township visits as needed #ZR #INDGEN
