LaborerThe Laborer role is primarily responsible for keeping workspace and surrounding areas clean on the sawmill that require attention to detail, quality, order picking, physical labor, clean up, and yard maintenance.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to clearly communicate with your peers and leadership via radio in a noisy production settingProvides cleaning throughout each workstation and inside/outside millResponsible for safe keeping with the flow of productionWear appropriate protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulationsUtilize hand tools and wheelbarrows while cleaning up sawmill debris and areasOther duties as assignedEducation / Experience / CertificationYears of Experience Preferred: 1-3 years of experience with some type manufacturing, or construction or production line industry with preference in sawmillsMust be able to work in an indoor or outside manufacturing for 810-hour shift periodsMust be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materialsMust be able to lift up to 30 poundsAttention to detailKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent problem solving and analytical skills requiredAbility to work independently and in groupsHigh degree of attention to detailExperience in Sawmill industry is a plusWork SettingIn-person (Required)Work Environment Manufacturing Plant Physical DemandsThe physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces.
