With a commitment to the people who bring places to life, WMF embraces the potential of the past to create a more resilient and inclusive society.Position SummaryWMF is seeking a paid Public Programs Intern to help develop, coordinate and promote WMF’s Public Programs. This is an in-person position, working 20-24 hours per week at WMF’s Headquarters in New York. The role includes attendance at live public programs, which may take place in the evenings or on weekends (approximately two per month), with all hours counted toward the intern’s weekly schedule.ResponsibilitiesAssist with both in-person and online events, including coordination, promotion, production, and reportingPrepare written materials, including but not limited to scripts, talking points, and editorial copy for printed and digital communicationsConduct research on possible partners, speakers, and vendorsField email inquiries to WMF’s events inboxUpdate events on the organization’s website WMF.org as neededAssist with various administrative tasks associated with event productionAssist with additional communication tasks as needed (website updates, social media, etc)Track event attendance, speakers and venues contacted, swag and collateral, and deliveries needed ensuring that projects progress according to planAssist with various administrative tasks associated with event productionQualificationsStudents majoring in communications, museum studies, anthropology, historic preservation, international relations, public relations, marketing or related field preferredDemonstrated experience in project management.Ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative environment.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
