ASCP Respiratory Therapist, Day Shift
Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region, providing essential respiratory care services in a supportive and patient-focused environment. This role involves delivering comprehensive respiratory therapy under physician orders, including oxygen and aerosol therapies, advanced airway management, arterial puncture and analysis, ECGs, and mechanical ventilation for adult and geriatric patients. Job Summary As a Respiratory Therapist, you will plan, implement, and evaluate therapy effectiveness while collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams. Your compassionate care will help restore pulmonary function, alleviate pain, and support life through various respiratory treatments and equipment management. Key Responsibilities Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results to develop and administer respiratory therapy treatment plans. Perform pulmonary function tests and manage therapies such as bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises. Monitor patient responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas analysis, adjusting treatments as necessary. Supervise respiratory therapy aides and technicians, ensuring safe and effective equipment operation. Participate in discharge planning and educate patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs and assistive equipment. Contribute to departmental policy development, training programs, and workflow coordination. Education and Experience Associate degree from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited program. Minimum of two years of acute care respiratory therapy experience. Licenses and Certifications Current unrestricted state respiratory care practitioner license. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) upon hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within one year. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire. Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of respiratory care theories and clinical skills. Ability to assess patient needs and apply age-specific treatment principles. Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and home care devices. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with healthcare teams and patients. Competence in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications. Independent judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position involves frequent lifting and carrying of equipment, standing, walking, and occasional bending. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is possible, and normal vision, hearing, and speech are required with or without corrective devices. Work schedule includes 12-hour shifts in a 40-hour work week.
