Senior Accountant

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Accountant on behalf of a growing food manufacturing organization. This role is designed to strengthen the company's financial reporting and operational accounting capabilities while supporting continued growth across the business. Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will play an important role in delivering accurate financial information, analyzing manufacturing performance, managing inventory accounting, and providing insights that help drive better business decisions. This is an opportunity to contribute beyond traditional accounting functions and work closely with operations and supply chain teams to improve performance and processes.ResponsibilitiesSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesAssist in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting packagesAnalyze manufacturing costs, production variances, inventory movements, and overhead allocationsMonitor inventory transactions and support cycle counts and physical inventory processesPartner with operations and supply chain teams to improve reporting accuracy and financial visibilityContribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activitiesProvide financial analysis and insights to support operational and strategic decision-makingSupport external audit requirements and maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controlsIdentify and implement opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting capabilitiesParticipate in special projects and ad hoc analysis as requiredRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related disciplineCPA designation or active pursuit of CPA is considered an assetMinimum 4 years of progressive accounting experienceExperience within manufacturing, food production, consumer products, or a similar operational environment preferredStrong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reportingAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience working with ERP systemsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and business partnering skillsDetail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying improvementsComfortable working in a hands-on and evolving business environmentRemunerationCompetitive base salary
