Salary Range: $64,000.00 - $91,500.00IntroductioniRobot is seeking passionate and bright individuals to join our Design Assurance Engineering team within the iRobot Labs (R&D Innovation) engineering organization. We are looking for a Design Verification & Test engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on prototyping and test environment. This role is uniquely split between New Product Integration (NPI) and Innovation, requiring both structured execution and the ability to thrive in ambiguity.You will support China-based NPI teams in validating product readiness for launch, while also partnering with US & China-based Innovation teams to validate emerging technologies. Success in this role requires strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to leverage modern tools to solve evolving, often undefined problems.This role is based in Bedford, MA and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams in China.Your work will have a direct impact on iRobot’s product portfolio and roadmap.What You Will DoDevelop and implement test methods, procedures, and fixtures for new product developmentExecute product and subsystem testing; analyze, document, and communicate results clearlyCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to validate product performance and reliabilityCoordinate test activities across internal and external resourcesPartner with Innovation teams to evaluate and validate early-stage concepts and emerging technologiesDefine test strategies in ambiguous or loosely defined problem spacesRapidly prototype test approaches and iterate based on learningsLeverage AI and modern software tools to improve workflows, automate analysis, and accelerate problem solvingOperate as a self-directed problem solver, independently identifying gaps and driving solutions forwardManage multiple exploratory efforts simultaneously, applying strong prioritization and project management skillsSupport transition from development to scalable test execution (local and global)To Be Successful You Will Have3–5 years of experience developing and executing test methods and analyzing results, especially on robotic and/or consumer productsBS in Engineering or related technical fieldExperience working with electromechanical systems that include complex software behaviorsExperience in statistical analysis of test resultsStrong programming skills (Python preferred) and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib)Experience with specialized test equipment and test fixture hardware/software (thermal chambers, HALT chambers, vibration tables, power analyzers, pneumatics, PLC, Raspberry Pi, LabVIEW, C#, etc.).Ability to interpret engineering documentation (schematics, drawings, etc.)Proficient with mechanical and electrical tools used in product development of electromechanical systems (common hand tools, drills, presses, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to clearly synthesize and present complex technical dataDemonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous environmentsStrong critical thinking and structured problem-solving skillsEffective project management and prioritization capabilitiesExperience collaborating with China-based teams is highly preferred.Mandarin language proficiency is a plus.In Return You Can ExpectTo work on the Innovation organization leading the technology roadmap of a top robotics company.To work on the cutting edge of robotics with the largest installed base of consumer robotsTo be welcomed as an integral part of a team dedicated to building robotsOpportunities to continuously learn and collaborate with our innovative and knowledgeable technical staff including leading scientistsA work environment filled with committed researchers and engineers who value and act on new ideasApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of any additional employment visas at this time.
