We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!Academies of Math and SciencePhysical Education Teacher (K-8) - 2026-2027 School YearLocation: 7301 E Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85209Compensation Range: $48,331.25 - $54,571.88 (DOE)Start Date: Summer 2026Schedule: Full-Time, On-SitePosition OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K-8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking an energetic and student-centered Physical Education Teacher (K-8) to join our team at the AMS Power Campus in Mesa for the 2026-2027 school year.The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging instruction that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will create a structured and inclusive environment where scholars build physical skills, develop confidence, and learn the importance of lifelong health and wellness.AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through strong instructional practices, structured classroom environments, and a culture of high expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student DevelopmentDeliver engaging physical education instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.Teach students foundational concepts related to physical fitness, movement skills, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits.Differentiate instruction to support students with varying skill levels and abilities.Monitor student progress and provide feedback that supports skill development and personal growth.Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive peer interactions during physical activities.Classroom Culture & Student SupportEstablish and maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive physical education environment.Implement PBIS and proactive behavior management strategies.Support students' physical, social, and emotional development.Reinforce positive behaviors and encourage student accountability.Collaboration & Professional GrowthParticipate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support school-wide initiatives and student engagement.Contribute to school events, wellness initiatives, and extracurricular activities when applicable.Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with AMS instructional priorities.Family EngagementCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and participation.Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.Support family engagement opportunities related to student wellness and physical activity.Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following requirements:Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or relevant content area)ORValid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject areaORMinimum of three (3) years of K-12 teaching experienceAdditionally, candidates must:Demonstrate strong classroom management skillsPass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance CardShow commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communitiesDemonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindsetExhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environmentCompensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.Competitive salary based on experience401(k) retirement plan with employer contributionsMedical, dental, life, and disability insuranceOptional vision coveragePerformance bonusesStipend opportunities for tutoring, intervention, clubs, or extracurricular leadershipOngoing professional development and instructional coaching
