ATMI invests in its people through safety training, quality equipment, and a team-first environment where your contributions are valued.SummaryThe Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. This role performs preventive maintenance, supports daily operations, and assists in facility upkeep, working closely with the Maintenance Manager and other departments to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and complex maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered and hydraulic manufacturing equipmentConduct preventive maintenance inspections and services according to established schedules for both equipment and facility systemsDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, diesel engine, and facility issues and determine corrective actionsReplace, repair, and calibrate parts to maintain operational standardsPerform general facility maintenance, including lighting, HVAC support, minor plumbing, painting, and building repairsMaintain accurate service records, logs, and repair documentationRead and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, diesel diagrams, and blueprintsUtilize hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectivelyMonitor equipment performance and assist in implementing improvement initiativesComply with all ATMI safety, health, and environmental policies and proceduresAssist in training and mentoring junior maintenance personnelWork Saturdays or additional hours as requiredRequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in Diesel Mechanics, Hydraulics, IndustrialMaintenance, or Facility Maintenance preferredMinimum of three years of experience in diesel, hydraulic, and facility maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial SettingProficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and facility systemsStrong understanding of preventive maintenance best practicesAbility to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documentsFamiliarity with standard safety practices in a manufacturing environmentStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a teamPhysically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spacesMust complete and pass all ATMI Indy Safety Training Programs including Lock-Out Tag-Out, Working from Heights, Confined Space, Forklift Operation, and Manlift OperationAbility to complete crane inspectionsMust pass pre-employment drug screeningEnvironment and Physical RequirementsFrequent climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbsRegular exposure to noise, dust, and variable weather conditions in plant and yard environmentsOccasional extended or weekend hours to meet operational needsEquipment Maintained IncludesOttawa Yard TractorBatch PlantForklifts and ManliftsReady-Mix TrucksGantry and Overhead CranesMiscellaneous small enginesPreferred SkillsWelding and fabrication experienceBasic electrical and PLC troubleshootingCertifications in diesel, hydraulic, or facility maintenance (ASE, HVAC, etc.)
