Senior Planner - Planning and Preservation
Description of Job and Division/DepartmentThe County of Morris is seeking a qualified candidate with understanding and experience in ArcGIS and planning to work in the Office of Planning and Preservation.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Assistance in administration in the Morris County Preservation Trust Fund (Open Space, Farmland, Historic and Flood Mitigation Programs)GIS mapping and data analysis and collection for Preservation Trust and Planning SectionsAssistance in the development of Planning StudiesKnowledge of traditional land use as well as environmental and preservation planning issues a plusAbility to do field work/site visits necessary to support various Preservation Trust programs as well as traditional planning (Land Development Review etc.).Requirements:Strong ArcGIS skills, including but not limited to presentation map creation, maps for field work, data maintenance and analytic/ program maps. ESRI StoryMaps/Webmaps or Experience Builder a plus.Mapping and GIS support for the various office programs.Analytical and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work independently and with a team under minor supervisionProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of Adobe suite a plus.Must be a resident of New JerseyQualifications:NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Six (6) years of professional experience in municipal, county, regional, or state planning including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester hour credits in professional planning subjects such as the principles of land use planning, history of city planning, planning project design, and planning law and administration.ORPossession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester hour credits in professional planning subjects such as the principles of land use planning, history of city planning, planning project design, and planning law and administration; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.ORPossession of a master's degree in planning from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.ORPossession of a current and valid license as a Professional Planner in New Jersey issued by the New Jersey Board of Professional Planners; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.ORPossession of a current and valid credential as a Certified Planner Issued by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey Preferred but not required:* Knowledge of County Planning* ESRI StoryMaps & Experience Builder, Adobe SuiteJob Location30 Schuyler PlaceMorristown NJ 07963
