Ab Initio Developer

Job Title: Sr. Ab Initio Developer Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – Onsite Once a Week, Local to DMV Only) Job Type: 12-Month Contract to Hire Hiring Manager Notes: Contract to Hire: 12-month C2H role with potential conversion. Hybrid Model: Onsite once a week in Reston, VA. Candidates must be local to Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia. Big Data Experience: Strong experience with Big Data platforms, preferably Cloudera. Minimal guidance required. Team Collaboration: Work closely with scrum teams, other developers, and the data platform teams. Database Fundamentals: Strong understanding of database fundamentals is essential. Ab Initio CDC: Experience with Ab Initio Change Data Capture (CDC) is a plus but not required. Job Summary: We are seeking a Sr. Ab Initio Developer to join our team supporting a leading healthcare client. The candidate will play a critical role in developing and maintaining data pipelines while working in an Agile environment. This role requires hands-on experience with Ab Initio, Cloudera (or other Big Data platforms), and ETL design. Key Responsibilities: Data Pipeline Development: Design and build Ab Initio data graphs and data pipelines to extract data from various sources (databases, flat files, and message queues). Develop and transform data pipelines to create a consumable data layer for various application use cases. Maintain, debug, and enhance existing data pipelines to ensure reliability and efficiency. Requirement Gathering & Collaboration: Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product teams to gather and understand data requirements. Work closely with other developers, scrum teams, and data platform teams to ensure data accuracy and system efficiency. Documentation & Support: Document technical designs, operational runbooks, and data models. Provide support for production pipelines by troubleshooting and fixing any issues that arise. Required Skills & Qualifications: Must-Have Qualifications: 10+ years of IT experience, primarily in Data Integration/Data Warehousing. 5+ years of hands-on ETL design and development experience using Ab Initio. 1-2 years of Data Integration project experience on Hadoop platforms, preferably Cloudera. Strong knowledge of HDFS, Hive, Impala, and other related Hadoop technologies. Solid understanding of SQL with the ability to write high-performing queries. Strong knowledge of OLTP, OLAP data models, and data warehouse best practices. Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Ab Initio CDC (Change Data Capture) experience. Experience with various AWS services. Basic knowledge of Java development. Working experience with Agile Development practices.
