As a team member at DuPage County, you will also have access to time off with pay on Designated Holidays or holiday pay if required to work, Vacation time, Sick time and Personal daysTo learn more about the cost and coverage of the benefits plan, visit:For detailed information on paid time off, visit:This position is assigned to the AFSCME (Care Center) Council 31 Bargaining UnitDuPage County is an Equal Opportunity EmployerRESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities Include:Prepares a variety of dishes and meals including meats, poultry, eggs, soups, vegetables, salads, sauces and baked goods, using various methods such as frying, roasting and bakingProvides guidance and direction to other dining services employees; may be assigned as supervisor to a shift of dining services employeesAssists with food, drinks, and supplies ordering when supervisor is absentShares knowledge and trains new employees on departmental proceduresHelps customers with special requests or concerns.Keeps management informed of any concerns or incidents that occur throughout the shift and contacts management for assistance when necessaryAssures food is kept at proper temperatures.Assures safe food handlingPrepares special and therapeutic meals as directedStores food stock as it is deliveredVerifies and sign invoices upon food and supplies deliveriesRotates products on shelvesMaintains and cleans cooking areasMaintains food storage areasAssists on the serving lineAssists with delivering catering orders to county buildings.REQUIREMENTS INCLUDERequirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:Completion of a High school Diploma or General Equivalency DiplomaOne(1) year of experience as a Cook in a moderately large institutional setting, or one (1) year of experience as a prep-cook at a moderately large institutional setting or at the Care CenterThe preferred candidate will have a Sanitation Certificate or will be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.A post offer physical is required.A pre-employment background check is required.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
