Our focused, interdisciplinary care of children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease brings to bear the expertise of board-certified pediatric cardiologists, congenital cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac intensivists, anesthesiologists, and advanced practice pediatric critical care nurses. Our facilities include a new state-of-the-art Cardiac Intensive Care unit in 2021 and the most advanced technology available for diagnosis, treatment, and translational research for our patients, who range in age from fetal to young adult.The Heart Failure/Heart Transplant APRN participates in the day to day care and management of patients with heart failure and those who are pre and post heart transplant in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The APRN will be expected to take active part in the inpatient HF/HT service as well as clinic patients in the outpatient setting.The APRN will take call on a rotating basis with the physician providers.• Participation in and management of HF/HT patients in collaboration with the cardiologists, psychologist, pharmacist, social worker, and coordinators in the outpatient clinic• Inpatient HF/HT services in collaboration with the CICU, NICU, Blue Team, and attending cardiologists• Assistance in the management of the ventricular assist device patients• Actively participates in quality improvement projects, lean initiatives, and data management to track patient outcomes• Collaborates with HF/HT cardiologists and coordinators in providing educational opportunities to nursing staff, and medical traineesAt Children's Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls.
