Shop Supervisor

As aShop Supervisor, you'll lead the frontline team responsible for assembling the generator packages and support equipment that keep customers online when it matters most.In this role, you'll balancepeople leadership, safety, and execution—coordinating daily shop operations, aligning schedules to customer commitments, and ensuring equipment, tooling, and fleet assets are ready to perform. You'll be the connective tissue between technicians, operations leadership, and customers: removing obstacles, enforcing standards, and building a culture ofsafety, accountability and continuous improvementwithin a union environment.From guiding technicians through complex repairs to maintaining a safe, organized, and productive shop floor, you'll make a meaningul impact every day—working alongside a skilled union workforce, experienced leaders, and trusted suppliers to deliver reliable power solutions.Basic DutiesProvide strong leadership to ensuresafe, efficient, and productive shop operationswhile maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.Plan and manage theeffective use of shop space, equipment, and resourcesto support production and service activities.Coordinate overallshop schedules and prioritiesto align with customer needs, project timelines, and business objectives.Directly supervise and manageshop personnel, including workload distribution and daily execution.Act as a primary point of contact tosupport customers and technicians, helping define scope of work and ensuring expectations are clearly understood and met.Foster a positive, accountable work environment througheffective communication, coaching, and workforce development.Leadnew hire orientation and onboardingfor technicians.Overseetechnician productivity, performance, and behavior, including conducting annual reviews, administering corrective action when necessary, and reinforcing safety standards.Championsafety culturethrough training, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.Lead thetechnical and professional developmentof shop technicians.Recommendtool repairs, replacements, and new tooling investmentsto improve safety, quality, and efficiency.Ensure shop assets are properly maintained, compliant, and available to support operational demands.Perform other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsPriorengine, generator, load bank, and service repair/maintenance experiencerequired.Experience withDBS, SIS, ET, and Service Linksystems preferred.Demonstrated knowledge ofworkplace safety requirements, policies, and protocols, with the ability to reinforce safe work practices.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability tocommunicate clearly, influence others positively, and build alignmentto achieve long-term operational goals.Ability to produceprofessional business communications, including written correspondence via email and teams.Excellentverbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service and teamwork.Proven ability to work effectively in afast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Computer-literate with working knowledge ofMicrosoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and related PC-based tools.High School Diploma or equivalentrequired; technical or trade education a plus.Validdriver's licensewith a clean driving record required:No more thantwo (2) minor violations in the past three (3) yearsNomajor violations in the past five (5) yearsMotor Vehicle Record (MVR) review required for final candidate selectionAltorfer Inc. offers an industry leading compensation and benefit package:Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance401(k)Paid HolidaysPaid Parental Leave and Funeral LeavePaid Time Off: Prorated 80 hours of PTO + 1 Floating HolidayEducation AssistancePersonal Tool Insurance, and Safety Equipment ReimbursementVoluntary Benefits: Supplemental Insurance, Accident, Critical and Hospital Indemnity Insurance, Legal Assistance and Identity & Fraud ProtectionPayrate: $65,000 - $85,000 annuallyPosted MinUSD $65,000.00/Yr.Posted MaxUSD $85,000.00/Yr.Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsThis position works primarily in the shop environment supporting service operations and some office environment work. Noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate, and the noise level in the office environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
