Sr. Maintenance Tech - Machinist

CSP's Sarepta facility is seeking a Machinist for fabrication and modification of equipment and tools required to support the company's daily operations. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Machinist/Fabrication Technician position is to assist in the performance of the day-to-day tasks of the Maintenance Department.
General functions and responsibilities include:
Fabricate and/or modify equipment required to support company requirements.
Responsible for sharpening and replacing dies, punches and inserts in molds, hydra pierces, and punches.
Obtain pricing on any item required to maintain readiness of department.
Specify proper material specifications for items required to maintain readiness of department.
Perform Preventative Maintenance Work Orders as directed by Maintenance/Tooling Manager.
Diagnose, repair and/or replacement of components on all systems and equipment.
Direct and assist in the removal and installation of Mold, Dies, and secondary equipment.
Direct and assist in the installation of pneumatic, hydraulic, water, and cooling lines and connectors.
Direct and assist in the cleaning of equipment.
Give general assistance to all Maintenance Personnel.
Be available for call out for technical support and repairs after normal working hours.
The basic set of tools should include, at a minimum, the following:
Phillips screw drivers
Set of needle nose pliers
Flat head screw drivers
Tape measure
Crescent wrench
Diagonal Cutting Pliers
Set of metric Allen wrenches
Flashlight
Set of SAE Allen wrenches
Small Knife
Set of channel lock pliers
Relationships:
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Supervises: None
Internal: All Plant Level Staffing
External: Corporate & Plant Facility Staff, Customers, Vendors, Contractors.

Perform the basic skills required in the most professional manner.

Knowledge and skills required include:
Proven experience in the fabrication of devices, equipment, and systems.
Ability to transform simple sketches into functional devices.
Ability to sharpen and replace punches, inserts, and drills.
Experience working with End Mills, Surface grinders, Metal Lathes, Drill Presses, welders, and all other standard fabricating tools.
Experience using Dial Calipers, Micrometers, inside and outside calipers, and other standard measuring equipment.
Good understanding of metals including their properties, and characteristics.
Minimum 20 mold set experience as crew leader under direct guidance of Maintenance/Tooling Manager.
Completed all Training courses specified in Maintenance Department Training Matrix for Machinist/Fabrication Technician.
Ability to perform Plant startup and shut down operations.
Ability to sharpen knives, cutters, drills, and blades as required per production requirements.
Ability to change drills, punches, and cutters on all required equipment.
Understanding purpose, and format of Maintenance Setup Sheets and Create Instruction Sheets.
Understanding Manufacturing Work Instruction manuals as they pertain to Tool Setup.
Knowledge of location and type of all ovens, oil heaters, bonders, and presses used at this facility.
Complete knowledge of Plant operations and procedures.
Specific knowledge of Hand Tools and Operation.
Hold a valid issued Fork Truck Operators License.
Understand and practice all Safety Procedures and policies.
Self motivated.
Ability to work with Oral and/or Written direction.
Perform tasks with no direct supervision.
A working and educational background relevant to responsibilities listed on this job description.
Scope and impact of position responsibilities include:
Key to fabrication of repair and replacement parts for molds and secondary equipment necessary for the production of high quality products for our customers.
Ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Physical demands include:
Excellent health and physical condition required.
Good range of motion involving bending, stooping, reaching, walking, and prolonged standing.
Physical requirement of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Personal protective equipment required for particular jobs.
Must be able to work in close proximity to high temperature molds and materials (290F- 450F).
Knowledge of chemicals specific to job-some exposure to fumes.
Good eye, hand and foot coordination.
Must have license to operate forklift and have valid driver license.
Mental/visual requirements include:
Communication written/verbal skills, basic computer skills.
Ability to work in stressful situations.
Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations.
Good math and documentation skills.
Ability to work on own without daily instructions or constant supervision.
Working conditions include:
Will be required to work in plant factory environment where there is some exposure to noise, dust, glass fibers, fumes and heat.
Must adhere to PPE requirements as defined in the safety manual when in the manufacturing area.
Maintenance personnel are also required to wear steel-toe foot wear.
