Assistant Director, Financial Aid Counseling
Anderson University's Department of Financial Aid and Scholarships invites applications for a full-time, 12 month position as Assistant Director of Financial Aid Counseling. Candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning are encouraged to apply.The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Counseling supports the daily operations of the financial aid office while delivering excellent customer service to students and families. This role will lead the financial aid counseling team, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, provides guidance on complex or escalated issues, and advise students on key financial aid processes such as satisfactory academic progress (SAP), state scholarship eligibility and renewal, and professional judgment consideration. Additionally, this position will assist in reviewing GPA and credit hour requirements, develop proactive outreach strategies to support federal loan status, manage award adjustments for course load changes and military benefits, maintain processes in Workday, use reporting tools to optimize aid distribution, and provide exit loan counseling. The Assistant Director will oversee the Federal Work-Study Program, serving as a liaison for employee tuition benefits and other campus committees, participate in development opportunities and complete special projects as assigned by the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Services.Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a bachelor's degree and three years of previous experience in financial aid, student services, or related field is required. Proven knowledge of federal aid process and regulations, including the ability to perform basic mathematical skills and operations using American currency, and the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or group settings is required. Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and familiarity Workday, Department of Education or similar systems is desired. Strong oral and written communication skills, exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail combined with strong interpersonal skills, and the capacity to analyze and solve problems related to financial aid is required.
