Machinist II
Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECM's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECM services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.ECM is currently hiring for the Machinist II position for our Sharon, PA facility. Team members in this position operate large, CNC-controlled crankshaft milling and turning machines. Duties and responsibilities are dynamic and may change over time to suit business needs. The Machinist II position is a non-exempt, full-time opportunity that typically works a 4-on 4-off schedule working 12-hour shifts. Machinist II may workday, night, or rotating shifts as dictated by business needs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent3 or more years machining experience preferred, but not requiredStrong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilitiesFamiliar with general computer applicationsExcellent organizational skillsMust be results oriented with a strong desire to succeedSolid verbal and written communication skillsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Read and understand written instructions and work listsBasic shop math skills (Algebra / Geometry)Read and interpret manufacturing drawingsRead and interpret CNC program manuscriptsPerform basic troubleshooting of CNC programsUse precision measuring instrumentsExperience operating tow motors, overhead cranes, or similar heavy equipmentRESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Primary responsibility is to operate a large, CNC machines:Loading workpiece into machine, layout and setting program offsetsMonitoring the machining process, identifying and correcting issuesUnloading and deburring of semi-finished partIndexing carbide inserts, rebuilding and basic repairs of tooling systemProving out new CNC part programsBasic machine maintenance (simple repairs, filling oil tanks, cleaning out chips and debris)Performing in-process inspection of workpiecesMaintaining relevant reports and documentationKeeping work area neat, clean, and organizedOperating a metal cutting band sawTurning and centering parts in a latheMachining drive flats into work pieces using a CNC millMoving items with overhead cranes, power pushers, forklifts, and other motorized equipmentPerforms all work in accordance with plant safety rules.Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.Performs other routine labor work as assigned and as required in accordance with production needs.This position will require occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds. This position will also require frequent sitting, standing, reaching and climbing. It will also include occasional walking, climbing and squatting. The physical demands for this job are Light-Medium.
