DescriptionThe Division of Student Affairs is accepting applications for the Compliance Nurse position. The Compliance Nurse is a Licensed Practical Nurse prepared by an approved educational program and has passed State Board Examinations. She/he works under the supervision of a physician and/or registered professional nurse. His/her functions will include rendering highly competent care based on patients' individual needs and in accordance with health center's standards; maintaining an accurate reporting and recording of patient's symptoms, reactions and progress; and assisting in maintenance of a safe environment. In addition, this nurse shall be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the clinic's compliance with several mandated regulations, including immunization and tuberculosis screening requirements for newly admitted students.Examples of Duties* Coordinate and monitor all immunization compliance processes by the university to ensure that all students (UNDERGRADUATES AND GRADUATES) are in compliance with immunization requirements mandated by the IBHL.* Assist the Director with assuring all department personnel under the health services umbrella comply with HIPPA, FERPA and OSHA standards; INCLUDES MONITORING AND UPDATING POLICIES REGARDING THE SAME.* Coordinate Health Center's staff compliance with required TB skin testing, CPR certification, and Continuing Education Requirements (CME) requirements.* Update all forms used in the Health Center to ensure that that they are current.* Provide first-aid care for minor injuries and illnesses based on standing physician's orders.* Check all examination and treatment rooms daily to assure that equipment is in proper place, re-stocks supply as needed.* Keep head nurse informed of any seriously ill patient or unusual circumstances.* Help to maintain a system of health records that conform to reporting procedures.* Assist physician during his scheduled clinic hours.* Assist with physical examination programs, obtain health history, perform screening measures, collect biological samples, and report findings.* Counsel distressed students with intervention and assist those in resolving personal and emotional problems.* Initiate an individualized patient education plan as prescribed by Physician and/or clinical policy including patient instructions.* Assist in periodic inventories of drugs and supplies.* Administer specified medications, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patient chart.* Assist with filing of clinic unit records.* Participate in staff conferences.* Foster cooperation among personnel by understanding the functions of other persons involved inpatient care.* Keep abreast of student insurance program and usage. Assist in preparation of insurance claims.* Participate in continuing education activities.* Sterilizes equipment and supplies.* Explain procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.* Observe patient, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.* Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.* Document nursing history and physical assessments for assigned patients.* Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.* Record and develop electrocardiograms.* Conduct specified laboratory tests.* Act as receptionist, performs clerical duties, prepares monthly statements, and discuss insurance claims with insurance companies.Typical QualificationsA licensed practical nurse prepared by an approved educational program and has passed State Board Examinations.She/he works under the supervision of a physician and/or registered professional nurse.
