Salary: $24-$35 Hourly DOEAbout This Role:Cardinal is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our dynamic and growing team. As a Party Chief, you will lead a crew of between 1 - 3 men. Survey Party Chief should possess high integrity and excellent attention to detail. Travel will be required from time to time at different job sites, and you must be familiar with all surveying techniques used for construction surveying.Responsibilities:As a Survey Party Chief, you will:Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, interfacing with clients and staff on technical mattersWork within defined project scopes and budgetsCollaborate with project team members, to include other licensed surveyors, engineers, and technical and survey staffReview the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features and structuresVerify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sitesEnsure Safety and Health are the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes. Acting safely at all timesParticipate in or conduct and document safety meetings with the crew daily. Host or assist with morning safety meetings. Bring safety and proper working procedure topics up as reminders and ensure all workers are comfortable with the tasks assigned to them by reviewing their day planMentor less experienced employees and train them in proper company standards as well as ensure more experienced employees are helping to mentor green workers in proper company standardsMaintains digital files on assigned computer equipment to assure use of correct and current data filesProvide technical direction and training for the use of hardware and equipment if necessary. Troubleshoot hardware and equipmentAbility to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documentsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyOperate electronic total station instrument run and adjust survey measuring instruments, including level, transit, theodolite, electronic measuring devices, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilitiesTake field notes of readings and observationsOperate and maintain vehicle and field equipmentPerform other related field and office duties as assignedWork primarily in the field on control, and topographic surveysPerform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, and data checksCut and remove brush and undergrowth for a line of sightPerforms mathematical calculations and field checking of field dataReads and understands plans and specificationsKnow basic sources of measurement errorsDig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monumentsHold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distancesDrive stakes to set grades on construction projectsProvide solutions to civil site design challengesUse public records in the execution of survey fieldworkTopographical surveysBoundary surveysWell connect pipelines surveysPipeline route stakingEstablish and recover survey control and monumentation, perform construction layout, obtain sewer invert and subsurface utility information and photo documentation of the project areaQualifications:EDUCATION: A high school education or equivalent is required, including a background in math, geometry, and trigonometry.EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of survey experience with at least three years of party chief experience.KNOWLEDGE OF:Controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculatorsProficiency in the use of total stations, GPS Receivers, and data collectorsPossess good interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skillsAnalyzing site plans, project plans, blueprints, maps, and charts.ABILITIES:Must be able and willing to travel daily.Must have good written and verbal communication skills.Must be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and with a team.Must have essential requirements: professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.Must possess strong attention to detail and an intense level of accuracy.Must be able to work in inclement weatherMust be at least 21 years old or aboveValid driver's license with insurable recordMust have Reliable TransportationBackground Check and Drug Testing RequiredCERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:Valid drivers license with insurable recordCST or Survey Apprenticeship PreferredPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential function of this job successfully:Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds regularly/occasionallyMust be able to drive a vehicle safely regular/occasionallyMust be able to work in inclement weather conditions.Must be able to deal effectively and reasonably with stress in the workplace without lost time or undue strainMust be able to sit, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of timeMust be able to type/key-in data and answer telephones frequently as neededMust have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focusMust be able to see and respond to dangerous situationsMust be able to wear personal protective gear regularly/occasionallyPhysical ability work including bending, squatting, reaching, stretching, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairsMust adhere to company policies, safety plan, and the project safety planAbout Us:Cardinal Civil Resources (CCR) is a fun, productive business dedicated to the success of our employees, clients, and our communities.
