HL7/FHIR Developer

We are seeking an experienced HL7/FHIR Developer to design, build, and manage complex healthcare data integrations. In this role, you will leverage the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to facilitate critical public health data exchange. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, CDA), robust data debugging skills, and experience working within a public health context.Key ResponsibilitiesInterface Development: Build, manage, and optimize Rhapsody interfaces, including channels, complex routing, and data transformationsProtocol Management: Implement and handle various communication protocols, including HL7 (MLLP), SFTP, and web APIsSystem Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Actively monitor message flow, track and resolve errors, handle ACK/NACK responses, and troubleshoot failed pipelinesPublic Health Integration: Ingest, route, and validate multi-source data tailored for public health systems, specifically interacting with CDC systems such as NBS (National Electronic Disease Surveillance System Base System) and NEDSSExperience Level5–8 years of general IT and software development experience2–4 years of dedicated experience working with the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration EngineMust-Have Healthcare StandardDeep expertise in HL7 v2 message types (e.g., ADT, ORU).Strong working knowledge of CDA / C-CDA architecture.Experience with eCR (Electronic Case Reporting) and ELR (Electronic Laboratory Reporting).Note: Basic knowledge of FHIR is increasingly required and highly preferredData & Debugging Skills:Strong SQL skills for database querying and data validation.Proficiency in parsing and transforming XML/JSON payloads using XPath.
