Position SummaryThis position is responsible for managing a technical team with a focus on geothermal exploration and development, field expansions, and operational asset optimization. This management position oversees the geophysics team, as well as exploration support functions, with an emphasis on fit-for-purpose survey design and execution, high-quality interpretation, integrated subsurface models, and scalable workflows that support global exploration and development decisions.Essential FunctionsCo-leader in safety. Maintain and implement appropriate safety systems collaborating with HSE.Perform site safety inspections and maintain a safety-focused presence on appropriate projects.Manage a technical team with a focus on team culture, performance, and development.Manage budget on all responsible projects and operations. Develop rotating and annual budget including cost reporting.Manage team resources by recruiting, training, coaching employees. Communicate job expectations and appraising performance.Develop individual capabilities for team members. Perform regular check-ins and annual performance reviews.Work with other Resource managers to build consistency in technical work, team culture, and department systems.Develop new tools for project management with a focus on resource allocation and tracking prospect pipeline. Ensure continued relevancy.Develop and maintain reporting structures; systems, processes, and workflows; and data systems.Conduct project reviews and ensure technical work is world-class.Ensure team tools including survey templates, processing/interpretation workflows, conceptual models, and technology are world-class.Coordinate projects and resources with other Resource Management to ensure projects meet target quality, schedule, and budget.Responsible for program progress, program strategies, and recommendations including reporting to upper management through appropriate and effective tools.Liaise between Exploration and intra-company partners such as Business Development, Operations, and FinanceLead in communication including effective and influential presentations, memos, and meetings.Ensure risk, uncertainty, contingency planning, and decision trees are always included in team workflows and deliverables.Develop and maintain reporting structures systems, processes, and workflows; and data systems.Responsible for data management and document control within the Exploration team and other departments where crossover is required.Oversee new data streams; focus on quality control and availability.Manage the geophysics function with a focus on technical excellence, fit-for-purpose workstreams, and global efficiencies; ensure goals of team are aligned with company goals.Define geophysical strategies and multi-year roadmaps (e.g., MT, gravity, magnetics, seismic where applicable) aligned to prospect maturation and development needs.Plan, scope, and oversee geophysical field campaigns, including survey design, permitting/interface support, contractor management, HSE planning, and field QC.Establish standards for data processing, inversion, interpretation, uncertainty, and documentation; ensure reproducibility and appropriate peer review.Drive integrated interpretations with geology, geochemistry, drilling, and reservoir disciplines; maintain conceptual and quantitative subsurface models and spatial products in GIS.Oversee geoscience support functions including but not limited to field work programs.Other ResponsibilitiesOther duties and projects as assigned by managementManage project schedules and budgets with appropriate software(s)Maintain appropriate documentation such as reports, memos, and presentationsPresent or publish at professional conferences as neededMaintain effective training program for team including external and internal trainingGuide wider team(s) to correct problem solving for complex problems with high impactEducation, Experience, And Skills RequiredMust possess Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject. A Doctorate degree in a relevant subject is advantageous. A major in Geology or Geophysics is preferred.At least 10 years’ experience in related work is required.Experience in Project Management is preferred. Experience under the PMI project management framework is preferred, ideally holding either CAPM or PMP qualificationPrevious experience managing a resource-extraction team is preferred, with a priority for exploration.Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team-building skills is required.Highly skilled communicator and high degree of emotional intelligenceConsistently proactive with a high-level of initiative to independently determine work objectives for self and teamStrong organization and time-management skills, with preference towards qualifications in Project ManagementAbility to perform economic calculations that factor in risk and uncertaintyMust be able to read, write, and speak English at a level for accurate understanding and to efficiently perform job dutiesProficiency in a variety of appropriate software applications to perform job duties such as spreadsheets, databases, Microsoft office including Project, Visio, and Excel.A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expectedProficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageousPhysical RequirementsThe ability to navigate and work in remote field locations and work outdoorsThe ability to walk, hike, and work on steep, rough terrain for extended periods of timeThe ability to safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways and off-roadThe ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipmentThe ability to periodically lift 50 lbs.The ability to travel approximately 30% of timeThe ability to work in an office environmentThe ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert
