Services are to be provided in accordance with New York State practice act guidelines for Speech/Language Therapy Services, the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association as well as in accordance with all company, state and federal standards and regulations; as well as within all regulations and requirements set forth by the organizations with which the company collaborates.Essential Job DutiesReviews all available documentation related to the individual prior to beginning treatment; including the IEP/IFSP, script and prior evaluations if availableDevelops an appropriate treatment plan for each individualPerforms treatments according to IFSP/IEP and accepted professional standards and practicesConducts ongoing assessment of individual during each visit, and modifies goals/outcomes/treatment plan accordinglyPerforms appropriate parent/caregiver education and develops home programs as necessaryWorks as part of an inter-disciplinary team, utilizing communication with all team members to enhance the treatment program of the individualMaintains an accurate scheduleSubmits all required documentation of visits according to established proceduresPerforms evaluations as assigned and when necessaryCommunicates with families on a regular basisKeeps abreast of legal responsibilities, professional ethics, standards of practice and agency rules, policies and regulationsProvides for own professional growth by attending continuing education and in-services; tracking this to assure compliance with state licensing requirementsDiscontinues therapy when child no longer meets eligibility requirementsProvides own transportation to service locationsMaintains client confidentiality with HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelinesMaintains professional appearance, follows agency dress codeAttends department meetings and any other meetings required by your supervisorAdheres to and signs Annual Employee AgreementDocuments time off and time worked accurately according to agency policiesPerforms other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by their direct supervisorSkillsBasic computer skillsCompetenciesStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong time management skillsInterpersonal skillsQualificationsMinimum Degree Required: Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology/Communication DisordersMinimum Experience Required: NoneLicense/Registration/Certification: Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification in NYS, License in Speech/Language Pathology in NYS, Current NYS Driver's LicenseTraining: Minimum of 30 hours of Continuing education per licensing period (3 years) as per NYS Office of Profession guidelines, All required agency trainings, All trainings required by programs you service individuals in, including but not limited to, OCFS and Early InterventionPhysical RequirementsThe frequent physical demands of the position are sitting, standing, walking, climbing, talking, listening, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling of children and grasping.
