Special Education Paraprofessional for SNAP at McKinley

Position Summary:Monitor students during arrival, breakfast, lunch, and dismissal timesAssist in classroom instruction under the direction of the special education teacherImplement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) as written in the IEPAssist students in following the classroom scheduleRecord and summarize data as directed by the special education teacherMaintain daily communication with the special education teacherAssist in the modification/accommodation of classroom work according to the individual student's IEPAssist the special education teacher in providing appropriate individualized services to assist students in their inclusionary servicesMaintain confidentiality of student informationFollow all employee practices listed in the Paraprofessional Employees AgreementQualifications:Pass Para-Pro examination or have 60 hours of college creditHigh school diplomaPrevious experience with children or students with special needs.Demonstrated ability to work well with others and understand individual students' needsHistory of excellent work attendanceAbility to accurately record and summarize data as directed by the special education teacherWillingness to participate in pre and ongoing training programsUnderstand the individual needs of students as described in their IEPAbility to lift students if necessary (all students over 40 pounds are a 2-person lift).Duties:Support the needs of special education students or other special education staff in the building as directedAssist substitute teachers and paraprofessionals in adapting to needs of students and daily schedule of activitiesAssist students as needed to achieve individual goals and objectives for their IEPsImplement behavior and support plans as described in the students' IEPsAssist in classroom instruction under the direction of general and special education teachersAssist with toileting and/or diapering as needed.Assist with feeding as needed.Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours; Attendance is critical to job.Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to handle stress.
