The CDO will be responsible for designing and executing a multi-year development strategy that includes major gifts, annual giving, institutional funding, and events. This role demands a strategic leader who can set the vision for fundraising while also being hands-on in managing key donor relationships and ensuring the successful execution of all development functions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in driving revenue growth, closing significant gifts, and building strong donor pipelines. Experience in academic medicine, research, or complex nonprofit environments is strongly preferred, and the candidate should be adept at aligning fundraising with organizational priorities and managing a small, high-performing team.The successful CDO will be a sophisticated, high-performing fundraising leader with a minimum of 10 years' experience and a BA/BS degree or equivalent. They should be highly disciplined, data-driven, and possess strong financial and operational acumen. The role requires a collaborative, credible, and emotionally intelligent leader who can engage effectively with the CEO, Board, and institutional partners. The CDO will also be responsible for overseeing development operations, ensuring compliance, and performance accountability.
