The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.Why We Do This Work:The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them.The Program Coordinator for the 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center program are personally responsible to the Associate Superintendent of Equity, Innovation andAccountabilityLocation: Clearview Elementary School and Edith Smith Middle SchoolResponsibilities:Reports to the Associate Superintendent of Equity and Accountability or a designee. Supervises building level 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center sites as outlined in the grant proposal and according state and federal regulations. Duties will also include, but is not limited to the following:Duties will also include the following activities in the absence of the primary Facilitator:Supervise and engage students during all program activitiesBuild positive relationships with studentsSupport academic assistance, homework help, and skill-building tasksMaintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environmentReinforce program expectations, behavior norms, and discipline proceduresTake accurate attendance and assist with required documentationCommunicate student concerns or incidents to the Site Coordinator promptlyCollaborate with staff, vendors, and school-day teachers when neededAssist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program spacesEncourage student participation in all activitiesModel professionalism, reliability, and positive behaviorParticipate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional developmentQualifications:(1) Bachelor's Degree preferred, 3 years' experience in related field and supervisory experience with children and staff;(2) Experience in working with youth programs;(3) Experience in working with children;(4) Knowledge of youth development;(5) Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems;(6) Ability to deal with general problems;(7) Ability to implement quality programs for youth;(8) Ability to supervise students in a safe environment.Internal Maintain close daily contact with program staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, and instruct.External Maintains contact with schools, students, and the site coordinator to assist in program implementation.Salary: (Grant Funded) $20.00 an hr.
