Travel LPN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Surgical Acute Med/Surg unit, requiring at least 1 year of experience, an active IL RN license, and BLS certification for a 13-week assignment.Job Details• Acute care hospital setting in a 63-bed Surgical Acute unit (49 private beds, 9 observation beds),• Patient population includes post-op surgical, trauma, overflow medical cases with procedures such as dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drain management, NG tubes, central lines, and TPN,• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5 patients/RN on days and 5-6 patients/RN on nights,• PCTs are available on the unit, covering 7-10 patients/PCT on days and 10-15 patients/PCT on nights, assisting with vitals, accuchecks, ADLs, turning, and ambulation,• Some patients are on telemetry monitored via Philips monitors; bedside RNs do not read strips - a central station with monitor techs handles strip reading,• No vents on unit; CPAP and high-flow oxygen present - RT manages nebs while RNs manage inhalers and can place patients on CPAP,• Heparin drips may be present; RNs are not required to titrate drips,• Charting via Epic (experience required),• 12-hour shifts; days 0700-1930, nights 1930-0730,• Block scheduling will be considered with prior approval at time of contract,• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday),• Holiday rotation required every other holiday,• Travelers are first to float and will float to units with the same level of experience,• No call or standby requirement,Job Requirements• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable); pending licenses are not accepted,• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required,• Post-op patient care experience required,• Current BLS (AHA) certification required; pending certifications not accepted,• Epic EMR experience required,• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility is a drug-free campus,• Strong critical thinking skills, bedside manner, and ability to work as part of a team,Additional Information• Unit is staffed with 2 pre-assigned charge RNs per shift who do not take patient assignments, plus a house supervisor available 24/7,• Orientation consists of 2 shifts with a preceptor plus one 12-hour shift covering Epic and professional orientation with the unit educator,• Travelers do not self-schedule,• Any color scrubs are acceptable,• Local candidates are accepted; candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate,
