This individual contributor role is perfect for someone who enjoys being embedded in the business, building trust with leaders, and rolling up their sleeves to make things happen.In this role, you’ll support our teams by delivering thoughtful talent solutions, driving engagement, ensuring operational excellence, and helping shape an exceptional employee experience across Pepper.Location: Barrington, ILTravel: ~20% localWhat You’ll DoTalent & Performance ManagementLead performance cycles, talent reviews, and succession planningEquip leaders with tools and insights to build and develop strong teamsStaffing & OnboardingPartner with leaders on staffing strategies and hiring decisionsOwn a smooth, welcoming onboarding experience from start to finishEmployee Engagement & CultureDrive engagement initiatives—surveys, feedback loops, team-buildingTranslate insights into meaningful action that strengthens culture and retentionEmployee Relations & HR ComplianceConduct workplace investigations and guide leaders through complex decisionsEnsure alignment with policies, laws, and best practicesLearning & DevelopmentIdentify development needs and support training programsPromote continuous learning across teamsHR Operations & Generalist SupportServe as the on-the-ground HR partner for compensation, benefits, HRIS, and moreMaintain accurate records, data integrity, and compliance documentationDiversity, Community & Early TalentSupport DEI initiatives, early talent programs, and community engagement efforts What You BringBachelor’s degree in HR or related field required5+ years of progressive HR Generalist or HRBP experiencePHR/SPHR or SHRM certification preferredStrong grounding in recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and employment lawExceptional communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skillsAbility to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and balance both strategic and tactical workConstruction industry experience a plusThe midpoint salary for this position is $125,000. We consider many factors when determining actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
