MODERN MATURITY CENTERCOOK (PT)Monday-Friday 4:00 am to 11:00 am (start times may vary)(Paid vacation and sick time)SUMMARYAs a Cook at Modern Maturity Center, your primary responsibility will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards. You will work closely with the Head Cook and the kitchen team to ensure all meals are prepared and served on time. Your attention to detail and ability to follow recipes will be crucial in maintaining the quality and consistency of our menu. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReads menu and recipes to prepare food; estimates food requirements and procures food from storage.Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettlesMeasures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casserolesBakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foodsAdds seasoning to foods during mixing or cookingObserves and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and taking temperatureCarves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill ordersCuts, trims, and bones meat before cookingAdheres to health, sanitary and safety regulationsEnsures maintenance of a clean and sanitary kitchenMaintain food inventories as neededEnsures that serving lines have adequate supplies of foodReceives and stores food and suppliesQUALIFICATIONSExperience working in a high-volume kitchenKnowledge of food safety and sanitation regulationsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentUse equipment and materials properlyStrong communication and teamwork skillsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMust have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceCERTIFICATES AND LICENSESServSafe certification preferred but not required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell.The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
