The organization works nationally, engages senior leaders across government, media, and philanthropy, and operates in high-stakes environments where judgment, discretion, and execution matter.This role is not with TaskForce. TaskForce is serving as an external search partner for this position.About This RoleThe Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted strategic partner to organizational leadership and a central driver of execution. This role is designed for a highly discreet operator who can manage operations and finances, align cross-functional work, and support leadership on strategy, communications, and external partnerships.Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Chief of Staff will translate vision and intent into clear priorities, disciplined execution, and measurable outcomes. Acting as the connective tissue across teams, this individual will bring structure, clarity, and momentum - while exercising sound judgment in sensitive and confidential settings.The ideal candidate is comfortable operating behind the scenes, equally adept at shaping strategy and ensuring the details are handled with precision.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic, Executive & Communications SupportPartner closely with leadership on strategy, decision-making, and priority managementSupport messaging and communications strategy, including preparation of briefings, talking points, and strategic memosConvert leadership direction into actionable plans, timelines, and execution frameworksOperations & Financial OversightOversee and support day-to-day operations to ensure alignment and follow-throughPartner on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning; monitor spend and organizational healthBuild and maintain systems, workflows, and operating rhythms that enable accountability and scaleCross-Functional LeadershipServe as a trusted integrator across departments, resolving issues and maintaining momentumSupport senior leaders in managing teams, deliverables, and time-sensitive prioritiesLead special projects and sensitive initiatives on behalf of leadershipExternal Engagement & PartnershipsSupport leadership in managing high-level partnerships and key external relationshipsCoordinate with external stakeholders across politics, media, advocacy, and allied sectorsProvide oversight and support for major events or public-facing moments as neededRequirements7+ years in senior operations, strategy, or management rolesDemonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership in high-stakes, fast-moving environmentsExperience collaborating with or supporting marketing and communications efforts, including messaging and positioningStrong operational and financial judgment, with comfort overseeing budgets and organizational performanceExceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage complexity with calm and clarityHigh emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and a proven track record of discretion and trustA plus:Experience in politics, campaigns, government, or public affairsExperience supporting or overseeing large-scale events, convenings, or experiential initiativesBenefitsFull health, dental, and vision coverageOpportunities for travelMission-driven, high-trust work environment with meaningful responsibility
