Position SummaryWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead/Manager to support the development of electronic products, mechanical assemblies, and enclosure systems while providing day-to-day leadership for a team of mechanical engineers and designers in a highly regulated industry. This role combines hands-on engineering responsibilities with project coordination, technical mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.The ideal candidate has experience designing enclosures and electromechanical systems for electronic products and is ready to grow into broader engineering leadership responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & CoordinationSupport management of the mechanical engineering team, including task assignments, technical guidance, and project coordination.Mentor junior engineers and designers in mechanical design best practices and engineering processes.Assist with project planning, resource allocation, and schedule tracking.Facilitate communication between mechanical engineering and cross-functional teams including electrical, firmware, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality.Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and employee development activities.Mechanical Design & Product DevelopmentLead and contribute to the mechanical design of electronic products, assemblies, and enclosure systems from concept through production.A command of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI standardsDevelop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation. (Solidedge preferred)Design components and assemblies using sheet metal, machined parts, plastics, die castings, and extrusions.Integrate PCBs, displays, connectors, and cable management systems into mechanical designs.Support prototype builds, testing activities, and design iterations.Enclosure & Thermal EngineeringDesign electronic enclosures with consideration for thermal performance, EMI shielding, structural integrity, and environmental protection.Perform tolerance analysis, fit checks, and manufacturability reviews.Support thermal management efforts including passive and active cooling solutions.Participate in DFMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities.Manufacturing & Supplier CollaborationWork with manufacturing partners and suppliers to support tooling, fabrication, assembly, and production readiness.Participate in DFM/DFA reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.Review prototypes, first articles, and production samples to ensure compliance with specifications.Help resolve manufacturing and field quality issues.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain engineering documentation including BOMs, ECOs, specifications, and test reports.Support compliance and certification activities related to product safety and regulatory standards.Work with GD&TContribute to the development of engineering standards and design guidelines.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Ability to obtain and security clearance5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with electronic products and enclosure design.Demonstrated experience leading small projects or mentoring engineers.Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Inventor.Strong understanding of:Mechanical design for electronicsGD&T and tolerance analysisManufacturing processes and materialsDFM/DFA methodologiesExperience supporting prototype development and production release activities.Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
