Medical Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high quality patient care and assistance to the physician assigned to the office.REPORTS TO:Office Manager/PhysicianSupervises: N/AQUALIFICATIONS:Medical Assistant CertifiedExperience: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Medical Assistant2 years experience preferredOCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards; may encounter radiation hazardsMENTAL DEMANDS:Requires constant and frequent judgment and response; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drill. Requires English language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communicationPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities Requires the ability to move quickly in response to patient needs, to stand for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching, and the ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently and/or up to 10 lbs constantly Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force up to 30 lbs constantly, up to 40 lbs occasionally and up to 100 lbs rarelyESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:• Provide the highest quality of patient care• Interview patients to obtain medical information and record in patients' medical records• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the Provider• Explain treatment procedures, medications, and Provider's instructions to patients• Help provider examine and treat patients• Return voicemail messages left from patients regarding questions about visit or any other assistance they may need• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean• Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow team members• Assist other employees in the performance of their assignments when necessary• Perform other related duties as required and assignedCOMMUNICATION:• Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers using a translator when necessary
