Job Summary: The flatbed automatic truck driver is responsible for transporting goods using a flatbed truck equipped with an automatic transmission. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, efficient loading and unloading of cargo, and maintaining the vehicle in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Goods: Safely drive a flatbed truck to deliver and pick up cargo as per schedule.
Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading of flatbed cargo, ensuring proper securing of loads using straps, chains, and tarps.
Vehicle Inspection: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition.
Route Planning: Plan and follow the most efficient routes, accounting for traffic, weather, and road conditions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage. Complete required paperwork for shipments.
Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including hours of service and safety protocols.
Communication: Maintain communication with dispatch regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and vehicle issues.
Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries, addressing any customer questions or concerns.
Qualifications
License: Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
Experience: Previous experience driving flatbed trucks preferred, but not always required for entry-level positions.
Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and cargo securing techniques.
Skills: Strong driving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
