Extrusion Supervisor
Job Title: Extrusion Supervisor Reports to: Operations CoordinatorLocation: Pomfret, CT Job Summary: Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operation workers in the Extrusion Department. Provide leadership and assistance as needed to resolve personnel, equipment, customer order and other issues. Essential Functions: Guarantee the on-time delivery of the finished cable assembly products which meet all required standards and specifications of planned production.Direct and coordinate activities of hourly employeesUnderstand, comply, and enforce OSHA, Safety and PPE requirementsEnsure that all employees know and adhere to safety requirements for all areas, follow standardized work instructions and perform process checks/inspectionsMonitor and assess employee performance and appraisalsAssist in interview process for new employeesTrain and counsel production employeesDocument employee issues and utilize progressive corrective action when warrantedConfer with management and hourly workers to resolve worker issuesRead work orders, schedules, and other records / reports to determine production requirementsAssign employees to equipment to maximize productionIdentify and correct machine malfunction and/or notify maintenance of major issuesIdentify, contain, and respond to quality issues via appropriate proceduresIdentify and locate materials, direct/deliver to production areas as neededProvide daily updates to production schedule and/or customer serviceProvide smooth transfer of operations from shift to shiftPerform other duties as assigned, including special projects with other departments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Flexibility to accommodate work schedule as needed based on business conditionsDirect working knowledge of operations and warehouse management (preferred)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work independently with little or no supervisionStrong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organizationExcellent computer skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)Experience with MRP/ERP and MS D365 system preferredBasic mechanical aptitude, experience with basic manufacturing equipmentEducation and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent requiredBachelor’s degree in management/technology is preferred; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceWorking Conditions: Works in a manufacturing environment (plant/office) focused on cleanliness and safety in accordance with OSHA and company standards. Works in a climate where temperatures vary.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Walk/stand on concrete floor. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the shift.
