This position will provide support to the program with specific responsibility for organizing and directing age-appropriate activities for school age students; serving snacks, providing assistance with homework as needed, and assisting in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students.ResponsibilitiesMonitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe, fun and positive environmentArranges designated areas with instructional and/or play materials for the purpose of providing required supplies to support goalsCommunicates effectively with parents, staff, and students to share positive behavior, build rapport, and encourage open communicationAssists the Site Lead in researching, planning, and implementing age appropriate enrichment activities with individual or small groups of studentsAttends meetings and professional developments as needed for the purpose of acquiring information relative to job functionsPerforms other related duties as assigned by the site lead and/or department directorJob RequirementsPrior experience supervising children in a camp, educational or daycare program is preferredAbility to develop appropriate relationships with children, coworkers and parentsHave a sincere interest in working with childrenReliable and dependable to work scheduled hoursStrong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate appropriately with students, staff members and parentsAbility to be flexible in working with others in a variety of different circumstancesAbility to lift, bend and keep pace with children during their workdayDemonstrated ability to handle information with utmost confidentialityWork EnvironmentProgram is open from 6:30 - 9:00 am and 3:00 pm - 6:00 pmFull-days will be required to accommodate school schedules and inclement weather daysStaff may be scheduled up to 40 hours per week during July and August to accommodate a full day summer program
