Vice President, Security and Risk Management

Job Summary Player 15 Group is the sports & entertainment brand behind the Phoenix Suns (NBA), Phoenix Mercury (WNBA), Valley Suns (G League), and Mortgage Matchup Center. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vice President, Security and Risk Management to join the team. In this role, you will ensure the highest level of service and safety by overseeing security operations and risk management across all properties of the Team Member Headquarters, Mortgage Matchup Center, Phoenix Suns, and Phoenix Mercury practice facilities. You'll collaborate closely with internal and external partners and support overall business objectives. You will lead site security programs, including full-time and part-time team members, and report directly to the Head of Building Operations. You will maintain safety compliance and manage relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, oversee investigations, and serve as the primary contact with law enforcement.
What You Will Do Lead and oversee all security, safety, and risk management operations across the arena, headquarters, and training facilities.
Develop and maintain safety standards, emergency plans, and security procedures to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
Serve as the primary liaison with external agencies and partners (law enforcement, fire, federal agencies, insurance, and risk management vendors).
Partner with NBA and WNBA security teams to ensure player and facility security.
Ensure timely regulatory reporting and compliance in coordination with Legal and People & Culture.
Direct security leadership teams, including staffing, training, performance management, and professional development.
Manage department scheduling, labor planning, and operational reporting to meet staffing needs and control costs.
Oversee investigations, incident response, surveillance activities, and coordination with authorities when required.
Lead facility safety training programs and regular inspections.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, and capital expenditure proposals.
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Operations Plans across all facilities.
Act as Executive on Duty as assigned and support department operations during high-demand situations.
What We Need from Our VP, Security and Risk Management Extensive knowledge of public safety regulations, risk management, life safety, and security operations for large public venues.
Proven experience in crisis management, investigations, security technology, staffing, scheduling, and budgeting.
Strong operational and financial management skills across multiple projects and facilities.
Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, build high-performance cultures, and deliver exceptional guest safety and experience.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Experience / Education Requirements Major market arena/stadium and NBA security leadership experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in police science or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in large-scale venue operations and security, with 10+ years in supervisory roles.
Experience leading organizations of 100+ employees strongly preferred.
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred (or obtained within six months).
