Tooling Engineer

In addition to plastics molding we offer world class automated paint finishing capability. Our versatile paint lines can handle parts that are very small and all the way up to 10 feet long. We process an array of performance materials from commodity grades to custom blends and engineered thermoplastic resins.** Visa sponsorship NOT available **Job Summary:The Injection Tooling engineer leads the design, development, and maintenance of injection molding tools and associated fixtures. This role ensures that all tooling supports high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production of plastic components. The Tooling Engineer works closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams, as well as suppliers, to deliver reliable and efficient tooling solutions. Key Responsibilities:Injection Tooling Design & DevelopmentOversee design of injection molds, including multi-cavity, hot runner, and family molds.Ensure designs meet part quality, cycle time, and cost objectives.Collaborate with product design engineers to optimize for manufacturability.Project & Program ManagementManage tooling projects from concept to production launch.Coordinate with program managers, manufacturing, and quality teams.Maintain tooling budgets, schedules, and resources.Supplier & Vendor ManagementWork with external mold builders and vendors for design, fabrication, and validation.Monitor supplier performance and tooling delivery timelines.Ensure tooling meets quality standards and customer requirements.Process Improvement & MaintenanceImplement procedures for preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of injection molds.Analyze tooling performance and lead corrective actions for defects or inefficiencies.Drive continuous improvement initiatives for molding processes and tool longevity.Quality & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of tooling designs, revisions, and performance metrics.Ensure tooling supports consistent, high-quality parts production.Conduct root cause analysis on part or tooling failures and implement corrective actions. Qualifications:Plastic Injection MoldingSkills:Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PPT, Project).Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar).Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and defects.Project management and supplier management skills.Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and lean manufacturing principlesAssociate MoldFlow Certified and Master Molder Certified preferred
